Complex includes 9 International Size, lighted soccer
fields with certified, laser graded turf and internal
drainage. Taken from a hot air balloon during Decatur Hot
Air Balloon Festival. To provide some context as to the immense size
of the complex, the blue object near the center of the photo is another
balloon hovering over the field.

New Jack Allen Recreational Complex
The
Jack Allen Recreational Complex is located in Southwest Decatur, Alabama and
will include a world class soccer complex as well as
recreational center, baseball fields, walking and running trails and children's
playground. Click on any thumbnail picture to view larger photograph.
The soccer complex at the new Jack Allen Complex is now available for
practice and games for the 2005 Fall Season. The park includes thirty acres of
laser-graded, irrigated, and fully lighted fields with certified SportsTurf which will
houses nine international size soccer fields. The complex will rank among the
best in the Southeastern United States.
The soccer fields all have lighting equal to 50 Foot-candles which is television
quality lighting. The championship fields are lit to 60 Foot-candles.
The entire project has the best quality lighting of any such complex in the
Southeastern United States.
The soccer fields have built-in internal drainage around the perimeter of the
fields allowing the fields to be pumped clear during periods of rain and
flooding.
The
Championship Fields have top notch aluminum fencing and will be outfitted with
grandstand seating, complete concession building and restrooms.
Landscaping around the perimeter of the fields will give the complex a beautiful
look complementing the idyllic setting in the wooded area of SW Decatur.
All fields are laser graded with a 1 degree slope from side to side ensuring
"perfect pitch" for soccer balls. Grass is certified SportsTurf
with built-in computer-run irrigation (sprinkler) system.

How to Get to
the Jack Allen Recreational Complex

Directions to JARC from
Birmingham:
Go north on I-65 to the Highway 67 exit (exit
334). You will exit to the right off of the interstate, go to the bottom of
the ramp and turn left (going back under the I-65 overpass).
Go
about 8 miles on Highway 67 (which is called Beltline after you cross Highway
31
or 6th
Avenue) to Modaus Road. Modaus Road will be the traffic light after Spring
Avenue. There is a Home Depot on the left. Make a left onto Modaus Road and
continue approximately 2 miles. At this point, Modaus Road will be a 2-lane
road. Where the road widens into 3 lanes, just past Cedar Ridge Baptist
Church, turn right on the road going up the hill. Follow the road over the
hill to the parking area.
Directions to JARC from Huntsville and points North:
From Huntsville, take I-565 towards Decatur and
continue past I-65 where I-565 becomes Highway 20. From the North, take I-65
South and take exit 340 towards Decatur on Highway 20. Follow Highway 20 as it
curves to the left when it merges with Highway 31 just before you cross the
Tennessee River. You will cross over the River Bridge. Once you cross the
river, you
may continue south on Highway 31 through Decatur for about 3 miles. Turn right
onto Highway 67 (Beltline), and follow the directions above. ). The Lynn
Layton Chevrolet car dealership is on
the
corner of Highways 67 and 31. Or, to avoid traffic, once you cross the river,
turn right at the first traffic light (at the Holiday Inn) and follow Highway
20. Go approximately 4.5 miles to Woodall Road/Finley Island Road. There is a
Discount Food Mart gas station on one corner and a Jacks Restaurant on the
other. Turn left onto Woodall Road. Continue on Woodall Road for approximately
4 miles. At 3 miles, Woodall Road becomes Shady Grove Lane SW. Shady Grove
Lane SW (Woodall Rd) intersects Modaus Road. Make a left onto Modaus Road. At
approximately 0.7 miles, Modaus Road widens into 3 lanes. At this point make a
left on the road going up the hill. Follow the road over the hill to the
parking area.

Directions
to JARC from Athens:
You will cross over the River Bridge into Decatur on Highway 31. Once
you cross the river, continue south on Highway 31 through Decatur for about
3-1/2 miles. Turn right onto Highway 67 (Beltline Road). Go about 2 miles to
Modaus Road. Modaus Road will be the traffic light after Spring Avenue. There
is a Home Depot on the left. Make a left onto Modaus Road and continue
approximately 2 miles. At this point, Modaus Road will be a 2-lane road. Where
the road widens into 3 lanes, just past Cedar Ridge Baptist Church, turn right
on the road going up the hill. Follow the road over the hill to the parking

JARC from Florence:
This is the most direct route and avoids the shopping traffic on the
Beltline. From Muscle Shoals take Highway 20 (Alternate 72) to Decatur and as
you come through the industrial area entering Decatur look for the
intersection of Woodall Road and Finley Island Road with Highway 20. There is
a Discount Food Mart gas station on one corner and a Jacks Restaurant on the
other. Turn right onto Woodall Road. Continue on Woodall Road for approximately
