Knots
Objective: to teach multidirectional communication and problem solving and
demonstrate that communication never really ends.
Equipment: a long rope, depending on size and # of players. With 6-7
athletes the length should be about 42 feet.
Numbers: 6-7 players/rope
Space: any open space
The
Game:
Tie the same number of knots in the rope as there are participants. These
knots should be evenly spaced along the full length of the rope. Each
player is going to stand holding a knot with both hands on the rope. At
that point each person must choose one hand that must never come off the
rope. If it does, the whole team starts over again. The object is for one
person at a time, in any order, to loosen the knot by using the hand that
can move. (Don’t tell them which hand to use.) They then have to crawl
through the opening of the loosened loop. The team wins when all players
are standing with both hands on the rope and there are no more knots.
