GIRLS:
ODP District tryouts for the birth years of 90-92 have been
concluded. The list of players advancing to the State Tryouts
are listed on our website
www.alabamayouthsoccer.org under ODP. Players advancing to
the State tryouts from the girls birth years of 90-92, they will
need to complete a State tryout registration form which I have
attached. Mail the completed form along with their $50 payment
to the ASA office no later than November 29. Check-in
information is posted on the ODP pool selection page.

ALL PLAYERS BIRTH YEARS 89, 88 & 87
Players 89, 88 & 87 all go straight to State tryouts – Girls
December 4 & 5 and boys December 11 & 12. These ages must
pre-register by completing the
registration form and mail to the ASA office no later than
November 29, 2004 along with the $50 fee. Check-in information
is listed on the website under ODP on the pool selection pages.

Program
Philosophy
Alabama ODP exists to
promote soccer excellence. The program is designed to identify,
select and prepare the best players per age group within our state
so as to best prepare ODP Teams for Regional Camp competition. The
program will also place a premium on exposing players to college
programs.

for 90-94’s
Registration
2004 Center of Excellence for 1993 and 1994 birth years
This year, we will provide district
level ODP training to these years that are prior to the
traditional ODP age groups. There will be 12 sessions offered from
November to April with more sessions during the winter time period
when more club programs are doing less. The sessions will be $10
per session. You can pre-register for all 12 sessions for $100.
There will be no refunds if sessions are missed.
The ’93 & ’94 will be invited
to the State tryout weekend for a state event not a tryout.

Program Goals - From ASA
Board Notes
- Insure equitable player
selection process
- Offer enhanced training and
competition for the top players
- Broaden exposure of top
players to college and regional coaches
- Prepare players/teams to
maximize their opportunity at Regional camp.
- Prepare our elite players to
qualify for Regional pool/team.
We need to overcome four
obstacles: limited training sessions, travel to training, lack of
resources for scouting players, lack of confidence.
To meet goals and overcome obstacles, ASA intends to implement the
following guidelines:
- The ODP program is designed to
provide an elite player training opportunities. It is expected
of these players that ODP activities will be their top soccer
priority.
- The annual ODP calendar will
be announced by July 1st of each year and be a 12 month training
and competition cycle.
- Players will be scouted at
Alabama tournaments (announced in advance) and coaches may
submit player reviews to the ODP Director of Coaching.
- Each district will conduct a
tryout by mid November and a statewide tryout will be conducted
by mid December for 91, 90, and 89s. Entry into program for
these age-groups will be by district tryout or selected by ODP
Coach to attend the statewide tryout.
- A committee comprised of the
ODP Coaching Director, college coaches, and designated ODP team
coaches, will select pools and teams.
- Club coaches on the ODP staff
will not coach the same age/gender they coach in club soccer.
- Players will be offered
district training sessions in addition to traditional pool/team
training. This will be conducted as player clinics and will
follow a program developed by the State ODP Coaching Director.
These will be at an additional cost, per session.
- Teams and Pools will be
offered as many competition opportunities as possible.
- June mini-camp and Summer
League play will be part of the annual program.
- Additional training for
individuals can be scheduled.
- Only players having exhibited
both a serious training commitment and notable competitive
performance will be selected to attend Regional Camp, even if
that means less than a full team goes.
